Ben signs up Alpine Council’s first school-based trainee

Traditionally the Alpine Shire took up to 15 work experience students each year to give them an insight into how the Shire works. 

But when young Mitch became such a great asset to the outdoors crew he was offered one day a week for a few months.  Sarina Russo Apprenticeships, Industry Consultant Ben Watts then approached Alpine Shire HR Manager Michelle Logue with the idea of offering Mitch a school based apprenticeship in Horticulture.

The Shire jumped at the opportunity as they knew Mitch was a great worker and they could offer him full time work when he finishes year 12 in 2018.  Working outdoors will give Mitch a lot of scope - The Alpine Shire is located north-east part of the Victoria covers an area of 4,787 square kilometres.
