Jobseekers teamed up with local artist to complete the Cooinda Coffee and Craft shop Work for the Dole project at Elanora Uniting Church.
Participants are honing their artistic skills in designing mirrors, tabletops and water feature bowls ready for donation to community groups. Plans are afoot to create of a spectacular piece for the Currumbin RSL.
Project supervisor, Michael Ambrose, said this Work for the Dole project has provided a fantastic real life work experience for jobseekers and is extremely happy with their commitment to the activity.
The opportunity to work on a project and see it to completion has enhanced many of our jobseekers’ motivation with several participants considering a future in the creative industries for or starting their own business under the New Enterprise Incentive Scheme (NEIS) program.
