The National Rugby League (NRL) School to Work Program invited the Sarina Russo Apprenticeships to attend the NRL’s Indigenous Round game between the Canterbury Bulldogs and the West Tigers.
Run by Kristian Heffernan, son of rugby league legend Arthur Beetson, the program supports Indigenous students in Year 10, 11 and 12 to complete High School and go on to further studies or employment.
At half time the students shared their stories. The smiles on their faces said it all as they explained how the program helps their confidence, their awareness of culture and their pathway to a successful career.
Kristian said to see these students make something of themselves and their communities makes him and his passionate team tremendously proud.
