Although women are employed in every industry, there is a marked variation in gender profiles across industries.
There are larger numbers of women employed in Health Care and Social Assistance (79% of workers are female) and Education and Training (70%) than men.
In Construction, though, men significantly outnumber women (who have just 11% of jobs).
Industries with large numbers of female workers are
• Health Care and Social Assistance (around 1.2 million)
• Retail Trade (close to 700,000)
• Education and Training (more than 650,000)
