Traditionally the Alpine Shire took up to 15 work experience students each year to give them an insight into how the Shire works.
But when young Mitch became such a great asset to the outdoors crew he was offered one day a week for a few months. Sarina Russo Apprenticeships, Industry Consultant Ben Watts then approached Alpine Shire HR Manager Michelle Logue with the idea of offering Mitch a school based apprenticeship in Horticulture.
The Shire jumped at the opportunity as they knew Mitch was a great worker and they could offer him full time work when he finishes year 12 in 2018. Working outdoors will give Mitch a lot of scope - The Alpine Shire is located north-east part of the Victoria covers an area of 4,787 square kilometres.
