As an Australian Apprenticeship Support Network (AASN) provider, we understand the apprentice hiring process and can guide you from start to finish.

Let us take you through how to hire an apprentice or trainee, and the support available to your business.

Getting started

Once you’ve made the decision to hire an apprentice or trainee for your business, the next step is to find a suitable candidate to sign up.

I ALREADY HAVE A CANDIDATE IN MIND

Fantastic! If you’ve already found a suitable apprentice or trainee for your business, we can help guide you through the process of signing them up. We can ensure all the correct documentation has been completed, and let you know what incentives or support may be available for your business and your trainee.

I’M ACTIVELY LOOKING FOR AN APPRENTICE OR TRAINEE TO HIRE

Not sure where to find a suitable candidate? You can lodge a vacancy on our online jobs board.

We have many aspiring apprentices and trainees actively looking for employment opportunities on our jobs board, so you’re bound to find the right person for your organisation. Once you do, we can help you through the sign-up process.

I’D PREFER TO HOST AN APPRENTICE OR TRAINEE

A Group Training Organisation (GTO) is a great option if you don’t have the time or resources to directly recruit and manage an apprentice or trainee.

In this scenario, the GTO employs the apprentices and trainees, placing them with different host organisations to undergo their hands-on training. The GTO handles the wages, quality and continuity of the training and any other responsibilities required.

No matter how you decide to hire an apprentice or trainee, all of these services – including use of our jobs board - are available at no cost to you!

Select your training provider

As an Australian Apprenticeship Support Network provider (AASN), Sarina Russo Apprenticeships can help you find the right Registered Training Organisation (RTO) for the qualification your apprentice will complete.

Your RTO helps you develop a suitable training plan to ensure the apprenticeship chosen is the right fit for your business, your apprentice, and the duties and responsibilities of the position.

Apprentice hire incentives and eligibility

When you hire an apprentice or trainee, you may both be eligible for a range of government-funded incentives to help with the costs of training.

We can assess your situation, advise on your eligibility for available incentives, and pay any claims you qualify for across the duration of the apprenticeship or traineeship.

What to Look out for in Pre-Employment Reference Checks

Reference checks are an essential part of the recruitment process, and according to a survey released by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), 92% of organisations conduct them when hiring new employees.

8-Step Interview Checklist

Interviews are a crucial part of the recruitment process as they provide an opportunity for you to show that you are the right person for the job. Interviews make even the best of us nervous. However, the more prepared you are, the better you will perform.
