Breaking Barriers: The inspiring journey of a female apprentice in the world of bikes and racing

In a world where gender stereotypes still persist, it takes courage, determination, and a true passion for breaking barriers to pursue non-traditional trades. Chloe Ackerley, SRA apprentice, did just that and through her unwavering determination and a love for all things on two wheels, she defied expectations, shattered stereotypes, and embarked on an exciting career that has become her true calling.

From a young age, Chloe fostered a deep connection with bikes/motorcycles and a love for the open road. Despite societal norms and gender biases, she never let anything deter her from pursuing her passion. Recognising her unwavering determination, she decided to pursue a career in the world of bikes and racing, a realm traditionally dominated by men.

Entering a male-dominated industry comes with its fair share of challenges. Female apprentices face skepticism and sometimes outright dismissal from those who believed female apprentices do belong in this industry. Just like Chloe, many of our female apprentices use these obstacles as fuel to prove their worth and showcase their skills. They immerse themselves in learning, honing their craft, and building a strong foundation of knowledge in trades.

To kick-start her career, Chloe sought out an apprenticeship opportunity with the help of Sarina Russo Apprenticeships. Through this invaluable experience, she had the chance to work alongside seasoned professionals, gaining hands-on experience and expanding her skill set. This apprenticeship not only provided her with technical knowledge but also exposed her to the inner workings of the industry, including customer interactions, project management, and business operations.

Throughout her journey, Chloe recognised the importance of building a support network of like-minded individuals. Like many apprentices, Chloe sought out mentors, both male and female, who guided her and shared their expertise. It is also important to connect with other women in the industry, attend networking events, and join online communities as this allows an apprentice find camaraderie, inspiration, and a sense of belonging.

Alongside her personal achievements, Chloe has become an inspiration to other women interested in pursuing non-traditional trades. By sharing her story, she has encouraged young girls to follow their dreams, regardless of societal expectations. By serving as a role model, she inspires others to break free from gender stereotypes and embrace their passions wholeheartedly.
